I can't get rid of the flies !! Used oil based fly spray , and a pour on and cleaned my Corral's spotless. Nothing worked. Any ideas ?

TC Ranch recently posted an Angus Beef Business Bulletin article regarding flies. Do a search or if she sees this topic she'll likely respond. Major problem with controlling flies is inadvertently developing resistance to the products used.

For spray 1-2oz Lambda and 1oz corn oil per gallon of water.
I think I use 8oz Lambda and 4 oz PBO-8 to a gallon of corn oil for pour on.
The Lambda is strong so don't mix it too strong or it will burn your eyes and lips. Will do the same thing to the cows
Don't ask me how I know that.

Lambda and corn oil in water if spraying.
Lambda, PBO-8, and corn oil if pour on.

The pestiside and PBO-8 will work with the spray on too. I mix mine with diesel. Lots of people reccomend mineral oil, but I am poor and make due.

Edit: I might add that you should alternate pesticides every so often to prevent resistence (ie permethrin) . Mineral with the IGR works well to break the life cycle of the flys but you can't have any untreated herds nearby or you are wasteing your money.

Pinkeye was the focus of the article but good info (link below). Halfway down the article is a red "here" for treating/managing.

Grit's recipe for Ultra Boss was 6 oz Permethrin, 6 oz PBO-8 and a pint of diesel with 1 gal of vegetable oil. Essentially the same ingredients as Fly Ban but at a lower concentration so I upped it to 9 oz of each & use canola oil (not as thick).

Honestly, this time of year there's not much you can do except rotate ingredients & spray twice as often.

Thanks for responding TCR! Excellent article! Avoiding or at the least staving off resistance requires due diligence and unfortunately in the best of circumstances only buys a little time.

I use basically the same ratios as TC. I mix PBO8, either Lambda, permectrin, permethrin or Lintox with corn oil. I use 4-6 ounces per gallon of permectrin/permethrin or Lintox and 4-5 of Lambda. And 6-8 ounces of PBO8. I usually get 10-14 days of control. Spray my horse stall with the same mix and haven't had to spray the hirses yet.

TC my question for you is will this mix work on the face mops you put on a mineral feeder. Diesel is not an option for me due to past experiences.

That, I don't know. My herd is super docile so I run the drench gun down their face but not so there's a chance it could get in their eyes. You might try mineral oil for face mops, even if it means mixing a separate batch.

Face mops and back rubbers didn't work for me so I rely on diligent spraying, mineral with CTC and IGR and vaccinating with an autogenous that targets both moxarella bovis and bovculli.

Add a product called Justifly to your mineral. Takes a few weeks to work. But we'll worth it. Good luck

What is it? Can't find it with Google
It is a larvaside like Altosid. There is also a brand called Clarifly.

Justifly http://www.cattleflycontrol.com/
Clarifly https://www.centralflycontrol.com/

https://www.pbsanimalhealth.com/products/justifly-feedthrough-cattle

Thank you. I misspelled the name and Google can't read my mind.

It's called JustiFly. It has difubenzuron in it which is an igr. Manufactured by champion farmoquimico. I'd post a picture but I don't know how. Hope this helps
