Florida cold!

Well, they told me where I was going there was a girl behind every tree. The problem was there was no tree's. Fortunately they did send in a cargo plane with Saskatchewan Sally in the cargo bay. She kept all the troops warm at one time covering them with those luscious folds of warm, silky, white, cottage cheese, musky, mountains of skin.

It's all in what you're accustomed to. A friend of mine from the desert gave me a bad time because I said it was too windy to go shooting when the wind was blowing 10-15 miles an hour here. He said I was spoiled! In the desert 20-25 was considered a calm day and suitable for long range shooting. Didn;t get windy till it was over 35 mph.

Dun, I have noticed in previous posts that you are a shooter. I have shot a quite a bit of benchrest and still participate in some local shoots from time to time. What do you call long range shooting? Just wondering. Mike

Don't know about Dun but I consider 300-600 yards long range shooting. Can you say M1?

Over about 350. Back in the early 60's I shot some benchrest but they started getting too fancy (expensive for me) so I quit. After that it was just informal target and critters, like yotes, jackrabbits, ground squirrels, crows, etc. and deer and bear.

Yea, I'd say that fits the bill!

M1.....would that be a .308 or 30-06? I'm not much on military rounds but the .308 is a good one for sure.

I had a 1000 yd gun built a few years ago and only shot in a couple of matches and use it for "Beanfield" deer shooting. It's a lot of fun when you do your homework. We shoot 100, 200 & 300 yd. matches in benchrest also. Some shoot amazing groups with the 6PPC's and 6 BR's.

Prairie dog shooting is a blast if the wind will cooperate. Just like dun said, the wind always blows out west!

I agree, it gets pretty pricey just to have equipment to compete, not to mention the traveling involved. Those are the main reasons I have laid back too. We still gather up about once a month around here on Sundays and have informal matches though.

Back last spring we had an egg shoot. (drill holes along the top of a board and place an egg on a golf tee) There were about 25 guys competing for the pot. On the last relay I swapped the chicken eggs for quail eggs. Made it quite interesting at 200 yds.!

There isn;t much sport shooting around here. Even the muzzleloader group folded a couple of years ago.

Ah well, the prices we pay for a different type of life.

I will be the first to admit I am a whimp when it comes to the cold. Born and raised here I guess my gene's just don't how to handle it.

over here at the moment it is -4C and will be about -12 in wind factor, and by night it is around -13 -14C, we are getting wind's from Siberea in Russia coming across. How about a trip to Essex England, that will harden you up or you could go to Siberea where it is -32C
