Am I setting myself up for more spotted calves if I breed my 1/2 Angus 1/2 Holstein cows to Fleck bulls?

Possibly... would depend on whether the bull carries the 'spotting' gene. Not all do.
I'd count on some chrome on legs/feet, etc.

I've seen at least one full-Fleckvieh AI sire somewhere that's solid red... no white on him at all.

You will expect spotted calves anyways. Very few flecks are solid....

Then it's not worth it to breed your cows to fleck bull if you don't want calves with Holstein markings

Not too many Flecks with the spotted pattern. More common in the Swiss Simmentals.

Most Fleckvieh are solid red with goggle eyes nowadays. You can still find the odd spotted one if you look around and the odd buckskin. Many breeders are testing for the diluter gene now as a lot of these bulls go to work on black cows.
