Nor am I. We kept aside some cows to be recips last fall, really regretting it now, kinda messed up the herd. With the stipulations in the contract for the calves, they have to weigh __ by such and such a date. I would never make a first calf heifer a recip. shutskytj has a point, you never know how those first calf heifers are going to milk, so if you have them as recips you'll have to pour the feed to them (even if that works) and to the calves for the calves to make weight. It's pretty costy to have your embryos placed in cattle, it's better to bet on a more sure thing (older cows). Enough of my sermon. :shock:
