I was excited to see the cow that the new bull tagged 5 minutes after stepping of the trailer last year has calved . However, she' s currently playing the " what do you mean where's my calf? BTW what's a calf" game. She's just grazing like the rest of the cows. I watched for awhile but gave up . She's been nursed ,it's not her first rodeo and no buzzards around so I'm waiting for her to bring it up on her schedule. Sigh.

I have occasionally had good luck imitating a calf calling for its mother.

My husband is working on a new waterline and trough installation in the pasture next to the one the cows are in. When I went over this evening about dark to pick him up, the wench was strolling over the hill towards the woods. I'm sure she was headed to her calf. Maybe I'll catch a glimpse tomorrow.

Had one 2-3 days ago... son thought he saw a calf out there, but could not find it anywhere.... they walked the pasture and nothing..... finally saw it this morning... momma hid it and told it to STAY PUT.....rolled out some hay and managed to see it... but not catching it... got 2 more tagged from the last 24 hours....
Calving has begun...
