For some reason our tomatoes made a little late this year. Out of the couple we have already sliced I have failed to over indulge on bacon and tomato sandwiches. Well, I'm about to correct that problem as soon as the wife gets home. Now, the real question is: mayo or Miracle Whip?

Some kind of dang little bird keeps pecking all of ours. Haven't got a good one yet but they look awful anyway. Rural water just don't get the job done like a good rain.

Yes indeed but I'll take miracle whip over that dam olive oil healthy crap my wife keeps buying cause its supposed to be heart healthy. I'll give it to her on being price conscious cause that stuff lasts for months. I be we go through 3 jars of helman's for every jar of olive crap.

Slick we haven't even been able to get a tomato close to to ripening. The little SOB's start pecking and eating the seeds out while they're green as a gourd.
 
We use mayo always, never miracle whip unless I am making my moms coleslaw and the it is half and half.

Tomatoes sandwiches , slice of provolone or buffalo mozzarella ,slice of tomato , sea salt and fresh ground pepper, place on a wedge of buttered ciabatta bread. :D

Didn't plant tomatoes this year, way too late. Mom and dad have about 50 plants in their green house so I raid theirs whenever I get into town. ;-)

We've had great luck when we tie a red Christmas tree ornament ball about the size of a tennis ball to the plant before the tomatoes begin to turn red. Bird pecks it, doesn't like it and doesn't return when the tomatoes ripen. This has totally eliminated the bird problem. Used it for years and never have bird problems.

Christmas Tree Ball????? Who'd a thunk it. Gotta remember that. Too late now but may try to plant some more in the fall. Thank you sir.

Don't know, probably would. The balls last three or four years if you store them over the winter. Ran out one year and couldn't find any in the spring so I bought some Styrofoam balls that they sell at craft stores and spray painted them red. Worked great except they pecked holes in them.

Thank you I am going to give it a try. What a great idea for the tomatoes ,have shared this already with some avid gardener friends . :D
