Finally Spring has Sprung.. (Pics)

Finally got the other half the cows on grass last week, calves like they are ready to really grow.




Which calf do you like best..The two bull calves were born the same day and are 140 days of age (10/20/13 DOB)

Jealous of the grass as we are about a month from it even starting to turn green here but we are getting a taste of Midwest spring finally after a brutal cold winter. High today here in Iowa was 54 (going to be in the mid 60's tomorrow!) and we have piles of snow melting and making a muddy mess right now. Good looking calves and kudos on them being halter broke and that calm already

304 sure has a big shoulder, girth and barrel on him. Who is he? What are his parent's reg. numbers if you don't mind me asking?
All of those calves are really nice looking. If you aren't real busy, you could tell me their registration or their parent's if they have not gone that far yet.


Who is that in the short sleeved shirt? Is that the little baby I saw your wife holding at the sale a few years ago? Surely not! :shock:

They all look nice... about the greenest thing around here is last years fall rye... we're about a month from that kind of grass too, if the weather stays good. Heifers are my kind too... pretty and friendly!

Thanks for all the kind comments. They arent world beaters but good solid cattle in my opinion..

The interesting thing is the three bigger heifers in the bottom two pictures.. The kids are showing them in two little local shows, they are enough differences in type I could see the calf winning the first show finishing behind the other two a week later..

What is the approximate weight of 304 and 306?

My guess is the 304(second pic) is alittle heavier, he is longer but maybe not quite as thick as the 306(top picture). I would guess 304 at 600# and 306 at 575#, that would adjust out to around 800, which is about right for our top end bull calves..
