The fence to replace the fence lost in last years fire is done. Of course right in time for the FSA to be shutdown in the government shutdown. I guess the fencer might have to wait a bit to get paid. This morning I didn't feel like going to the nasty ground they built fence to take pictures. Maybe some other time.

Not entirely, those wood stays between the posts could burn. But I am not worried about a fire. All the real fuel burned off last year.

When my place burned back in 2014 the FSA would only pay if all the posts and braces were steel.

All the posts and braces are steel. The wood is stays. They are not into the ground. Just staple to the wire to help hold the spacing.

I’m not a fan of pickets either. Just makes repairs more difficult. If cows won’t stay in 4 wires then add a hot one.

I probably needed to get closer to the fence to take the pictures. And it blended in with all that dry grass which never got grazed this year. FSA wants the stays. I am not a fan of the twisty wire stays so it is the stapled on wood ones. Shouldn't have to repair it. Nothing to fall on it. No elk or moose to run through it. And plenty of grazing ground so no reason for cows to be pushing it. Not stringing a hot wire clear up there half a mile from the house etc. to go around 300+ acres. If cows get out they have brands and will come home eventually.
