Back in the dry of '08, if I take silage to the cows they meet me halfway:

Same time of year, another dry - 4mm rain within the last month, can't remember when the last heavy rain fell, there was some in early Jan don't recall any since.
You wouldn't believe me if I said I take the silage to the cows every day and open their gate and they just stand around waiting for it to be rolled out, so I took a bunch of photos today to prove it. Either they're not starving hungry, or they're so hungry they haven't got the energy to chase down the tractor and catch their food.

Twenty ml rain overnight... the pasture is good enough it should bounce right back :D :D
If this keeps up I'll get some more fertiliser on.

Maybe your silage tasted better in 08?
Looks like they do have some grass. So my guess is, they aren't overly hungry! ;-)
