What do you all feed the ones you are finishing out to butcher, Ive heard shelled corn, ground corn, with soybeans without, soybeans, supplements, etc.

Rule of thumb in this area is 90-120 days of a ration heavy in corn content, would assume sweet feed also a good choice, as long as it contains large percentage of corn. That what I am always told.

Although I am sure that there are several 'recipes' and different diets that others use to get a good finished beef.

Keep it simple. It depends on the size of your calf and the potention finished size. If you are looking at a 1200# finish animal and if under 600# you need to watch the protein. Need about a 12-14% ration. Protein should be decreased as it puts on weight, finishing with straight corn last 300#. Calf should start off with 1% of its body weight and build up to 3% of the body weight. Must have good grass hay also.
