Going to stockpile one big field and was wondering how much it would help to put some nitrogen( thought abou 30-0-0) on the pasture the cows will be on while off the other. Would it help to stretch the grass in it? Just trying to save all the hay possible since its in short supply.

I put 30 lb N on some Fescue in April and was very pleased. I think the experts say 50 lb N for max yield. Put as much as you can afford. Some P is good too. Seems to add palatability.

If you have clover, 30 lbs in the fall will work well, no clover go with 60 lbs.
