I have had two fall calving cows in the last week to calve unassisted and after two or three days their milk dries up. We are in a severe drought , but the cows have access to rolled hay and a protein supplement tub. free choice mineral and fresh water.Havent seen this in the 25 years I have been raising cattle.

i have one do that every opnce in a while in the fall. seems like its usually somebody who had a big calf on em too long. be on the lookout for problems with the calf like navel ill from not getting enough colostrum...
