Fall Army Worms

Has anyone ever used that spray that is supposed to give a 30 day control on army worms? Can't remember the name but I think it messed up the molting or something. I always use 7 or lorsban but was considering trying this other stuff but I don't know anyone that has used it. I always have worms this time of year.

Last time I had them it was October of '06 in oats that had just come up. I had a cropduster spray them. Looked up the ticket, the product he used was Fyfanon ULV, (malathiaon). Dad used to use Sevin 80WSP when he sprayed.

That's it. Couldn't remember the name. I heard you could spray it before the grass gets too deep and it would protect it until you cut it. Assuming it works, this would have been great to have sprayed on the field I just sprayed cause I left a lot of tractor tracks in the field and I don't like doing that. Yeah, could have sprayed by air but I'm sometimes too tight for my own good. If this stuff works, it would be a nice thing to spray on the last cutting cause I always have worms.

Right. I don't like the tractor trails all over the field either. I was at Griffins this afternoon asking about army worm options. They said the conventional wisdom was that Dimlin was good for about three weeks. I'm going to wait and treat with Sevin if needed. Looked today and didn't see any sign of a worm. But, got 4 weeks or more of favorable weather to go before it'll be ready to cut. I'll be watching close.

Looks like something the BT products would work on, but I guess the cost would be worse than the worms.

I had to use malathiaon on my jiggs fields last year bc everyone was out of 7. It worked just as good and it is cheaper than 7. I also liked the fact that it kept the mosquitos away too.
