I just ran a couple of late season calves into the barn.
One calf has a, perhaps 1" area, under one eye that has no hair. There is no discharge from the eye nor does the eye look abnormal.
I am dealing with Texas Longhorns. Pink eye is virtually unheard of in Texas Longhorns so I don't think I am dealing with that. However, it could be since she is from my only unregistered cow.
Any thoughts?

Could also be warts. What does the area look like - smooth or kind of rough textured?

Pinkeye unheard of in Texas Longhorns?

I also raise them, and I'll keep using the prevention measures.

I'd be inclined to agree with Beefy on this one. Sounds like ringworm.

Thanks all. It is not crusty. I took a couple of pictures and stopped by my Vet's office on the way to town. The Vet believes she may have had caked mud and rubbed it raw getting the mud off.
Suggested coarse of action: isolate her, she already is, and observe for the next few days.

Here is what I am dealing with.

She has also been pushing her head between the gate and a post attempting to get at the calf in the next pen.
