I have a young bull calf that has some extra skin on his neck I need to get rid off. I know the traditional Sweat Colloar method but I was wandering if any of you old pros new any other tricks.

What about the products such as Sullivan's Hot Sweat. Has anyone ever used it and seen any results?

We used just Sullivan's purple sweat collar and it works pretty quick. They've got that lotion stuff you can rub on as well (I believe that's the Hot Sweat you're referring to) but I don't know how much of a difference it makes cause I've never tried it. That Maximizer Sweat Collar they've got works pretty well, though.
 
Maybe you should try different genetics and use a bull that doesn't throw so much extra skin ;) J/K Moogley, maybe I could borrow your sweat collar for Redbird?

I got the Sullivan's sweat collar.. the purple one which I think is the Maximizer. It does work well.. but make sure you take it off every few hours or you'll get irritation and it will screw up your hair.
 
Only leave it on for about 4 hours a day. We used to leave it on during school. (so that's longer than 4 hours...really from about 6 til 4:30) It was not detrimental to hair growth when we used it and didn't cause irritation, but like BullLady said it can and so you should be cautious about that.
 
I am not sure about sweating cattle but I had a horse once that we sweated his neck. I would use numotizine(sp?) it is like the hot seat you are referring to I think. Anyway we would put it on and the neoprine collar and then hook him to the walker. After about 30 minutes he would be foaming from under the collar. Worked great
