No, I haven't. I don't know anybody that has, or admitted to it anyhow. How can the zip-ties be any cheaper than a bag of bands? A bag of bands will run a dollar something to 2 dollars. A pack of zip-ties cost a bit more than that.

I don't think it would put enough pressure on it and if it did, I think there needs to be some degree of flexibility in the band to allow for swelling. For reasons I can't fully explain, I banded my finger once and I seriously doubt a ziptie could exert the same force that little piece of rubber did otherwise they wouldn't use them as handcuffs. I discourage others from performing this same experiment cause I assure you the results will be the same.

Cow Trivia - Did you know that once you put a band on your finger its nearly impossible to remove? Also, to remove it you will probably have to cut your finger. Its also amazing how quickly your finger can turn purpleish black.

Way back in junior high I new a kid that hooked a milking machine on to a part of his anatomy that I cannot mention on here. He could not get it off or reach the switch. His father finally came along and saved him for future grand kids.

Ya, I think you need something with some elasticity too. The swelling is one thing but then when the shrinkage takes place you need something that will "self adjust" to remain tight, and a ziptie won't do that.
