Evaluating cattle

From my experience with rasing other animals, I know that for instance with dogs when they are about 6-8 weeks they are structurally proportioned pretty close to what they will be as adults. From there on untill they are full grown they can be all over the place. My question is this. If you are trying to evaluate young heifers for replacements is there an age that is best ?

The "BEST" age is about six months after their first calving. Anything before that is a lot of speculation.
