Well the enthanol is a drop in the bucket as the article also sasy "The US consumed 283 million barrels of gasoline in June 2006—0.6% more than in June 2005—or 9.4 million barrels per day." Looks like ethanol production is about 3.25% of total gas used. I've heard mpg drops about 15% when you use ethanol so where's the savings? Has fewer pollutants per gallon but takes more gallons to get to your destination. Looks like we're backing up.
 
112,000 to 110,000 but heck ruining the groundwater with mtbe is well worth the almost 2% farther you drove your car right?
 
Groundwater?? I thought we were trying to cut emissions and stop this terrible global warming like you folks in Minnesota are experiencing.
