Does anybody ever see or catch any eels anymore. i remember growing up i'd see or catch several every year in the pond or creek but i havent seen any eels in years and years. (not complaining.) i dont know what made me think about that today.

Our creeks have some unusual denizens but I don't think I've ever seen an eel.
The hydroelectric dams have been detriminal to eels, supposedly all eels, during their lifetime, migrate to the Sargasso Sea in the Alantic ocean to spawn.
The Alabama river used to be full of eel, spoonbill cats, sturgeon, and grinnell, before all the dams were built.

we used to catch them fishing or when catching minnows for bait.
i put black hay plastic in the pond at the waters edge, submerged, b/c crawdads like to get in it, so i can just take it out and shake out bait when i need some. used to i'd shake an eel out every now and then. no more. i assumed the dams (somewhere) had something do with it.

It's been 4 or 5 years since I've been fishing there but we caught eels on the fishing rod and in fish trap boxes on the Cahaba River south of Birmingham in Shelby County Alabama

I used to see them diving all the time. Havent been diving in a long time though. That would be in the Atlantic near reefs while looking for lobster. :)
