Why is it, that, sometimes I can edit a post and there's an automatic note at the bottom saying "last edited by...at (time)...1 time in total" - and other times I can edit a post and there's no note?

I've noticed it on other posts (by other users) too. I'll read a post once, come back to it later and I KNOW the wording is different. Or there's something added. But there's no auto note at the bottom saying that. Sometimes that line is there and sometimes it isn't.

I thought maybe it had to do with the length of time between initial post and edit...but it doesn't seem to matter whether it's been 1 minute or 1 day. Then I thought maybe it had to do with the number of posts a person had...like when they were a GURU they could edit without anyone knowing - LOL! But I've noticed that isn't true either.

So....anyone know how it works?

If there has been a post since your origional post was made it will say that it was edited at the bottom. No other posts under it...edit away with no message saying so.

Thanks cert. That makes sense. :) Thought I'd considered all angles, but apparently not. LOL.

FWIW...not sure if everyone knows this, but you can delete any posts you've made as long as no one has posted after you on the subject.

i noticed that too!! thought i was crazy.... good to see i am not after all hehe
