163% tax on processed red meat? But not on tobacco products, sugary soda drinks, alcohol, or corn syrup based products? Fascinating! So concerned for the well being of the citizenry they govern. I would bet my left leg, soft drinks alone, negatively impact the overall health of Americans significantly more than red meat. Obesity, diabetes, HTN, bone and tooth decay just to name a few that come to mind immediately...

BUT sugary stuff, and corn syrup based stuff, and high fructose sweetened stuff is CHEAP, so those industries sell so much... and contribute to so many different "causes" and they help to support our whole Health and pharmaceutical industry.... you can't over tax them.... it would ruin that economy.. :hide: :deadhorse:

And it will save as many as 53,000 deaths a year... but won't say how much that is going to cost in added burdens on the health system with other problems. And sorry to say, if we keep saving all these people, and they get other health issues from eating other "processed" foods, then how are we going to pay for all this.... and what about the increasing populations....??? Guess there will wind up being some other horrible plague, or catastrophe like the attacks on 9-11, or a nuclear bombing... because it's cruel and inhuman to actually expect people to stop having more kids than they can afford..... OH WAIT.... they can keep having kids because us dumb a$$ tax payers will just keep paying more and more taxes to support the government programs that hands out more money and support so they can keep feeding them all this processed CHEAP FOOD....

Yep anything to keep the corn farmer in business.

I'm beginning to wonder if red meat want go the way of cigarettes shortly. Is it really that bad for you? I remember when it was said to not eat eggs. Now eggs are suppose to be good.

And beef producers fuss about folks buying beef with their food EBT card. Duh

Just like margarine was the best thing, because butter was so so bad for you....
Glorified penzoil is what margarine is, and does anyone remember when it had a little package inside that you squeezed to work it in to make it yellow? They were not allowed to sell it yellow colored WAY BACK WHEN..... before they made it into quarters like butter....
