Had a Young heifer calve unassisted 3 months ago and she done a pretty good job with the calf and for the most part maybe 50# difference in the others one born within 2 days of her. The Dam still has some growing to do herself and I wanted to make sure she was not taken down too far with her first calf. I separated them last night and they can see and touch noses if they want but neither is very happy at the moment. I do not have any others ready to sell yet so Im gonna just feed this one for a couple months and my future DIL asked me the other day if she could halter break some of the calves so she is gonna feed and work with it and I will sell on craigs list later most likely. I want to make sure she grows good. What protein percent do I need for her. She will be on grass and will have hay but I just wanted to feed some to help her gain. I use a 10% feed in the creep feeder but the other calves are on mothers milk also.
