Early weaned calves in drought situation

What is the earliest that you have sucessfully weaned calves in a drought situation? I weaned several last year when the pastures were getting short at about 5 months and a little older. They seemed to turn out OK. Any experience with weaning any earlier than 5 months?

I have weaned at 4 months...I think you are wiser to leave them on a little longer.Unless your cows are losing too much body condition.
