If Duke (the Crimson Tide of mens' basketball) played Mercer (where is Mercer?) 100 times, Duke would win 99 times. But today was the 100th time. Mercer advances. Duke goes home. I'm smiling. Oh yeah, Dayton beat Ohio State (they're nearly as bad as Duke) yesterday. Fun stuff.

I'm a huge Duke fan and an even bigger fan of Coach K. My son attended Duke basketball camps for 4 years in a row as a youngster. I had the privilege of speaking to Coach K on several occasions and he is a class act from the word go and he runs a top notch program that takes a back seat to no one.

Today, well we just flat out stunk up the gym. No excuses and hats off to Mercer.

So who you pulling for John?

I don't have a favorite this year, but Mercer just won me till they are out.
Coach K is a descendant of the Bob Knight school of coaches. You wouldn't put that in your herd unless you like to wrestle cows.

Duke is a bunch of five star high school recruits. Shouldn't have even been expected to win against a seasoned team like Mercer. Duke was outclassed the whole way through. I watched the entirety of that game.

Same here Tux....one of the few round ball programs with class and extremely high graduation rate thanks to Coach K. I think maybe he was the original creator of the "no pass no play" rule.

Christian Laettner was the hero, sinking a last second shot to defeat a gritty underdog Ky team. Earlier in that game, a Ky player went to the floor in a loose ball scramble. While the player (I think his name was Aminu Timberlake) was on the floor, Christian Laettner calmly walked over and stepped on his throat. No, he didn't hurt him, it was a gesture for sure. No call by the officials, and no discipline from Coach K (who runs such a clean program). In that moment, Duke expressed what they really are.
Coach K has a lot of accomplishments, a lot of success. Doesn't matter. At base, he's...not my guy.

My new son in law wrestled in high school. I hear he was pretty good as he only lost one time in 4 years.

My father was the North Carolina high school state champion in his weight class back in the mid '50s. He was also an All America football player.

I have a great deal of admiration for wrestlers....just never wanted to be one.

Can't find anywhere that he ever played for Cleveland. Had an average pro career, a member of the Olympic Gold medal team..donated a lot of money for scholarships....married with 2 kids. Seems like a good citizen.

He's a very good citizen and he has a great sense of humor. Last year before Duke and Kentucky played in the Champions Classic in Atlanta he allowed UK fans to prop their feet up on his back like he was their personal coffee table for a mere $50 donation to one of his favorite charities. Oh, they also got an "I still hate Laettner" tee shirt.
