I've always had a question.
How would a person adhere to a withholding when there hasn't been one established yet.

If there hasn;t been one established it probably isn;t approved for use on meat animals. Or if it is that new why would you want to try it. Makes it pretty simple.

Yeah I would never use unapproved drugs on cattle but I have seen people admit to it before.

all of the cattle that are butchered are checked for drug residues.an if 1 comes up hot they notify the owner.so always remember to follow drug labels.

Gonna need to disagree with you on this bb338. Never have I ever seen custom processed beef tested. maybe down south they do I'm not sure, but certainly not here.

How’s that?
I’ve sent truck loads to the slaughter house and I don’t know if they were tested or not.
Do slaughter houses notify you when they test and notify you of negative results as well as positive results?
I have never been notified either way.

i tell you what give a cow meds an send her to the weigh cow sale w/o keeping her the meat with hold time.an see how fast you get a letter from the state saying you shipped a cow that tested pos for drugs.ive delt with this stuff all my life in the dairy business an cattle.an i know the rules an regs.

If it isn;t labeled for cattle it's not supposed to be used on cattle. Nitrofuracin is a perfect example. It was used for years on cattle but has been illegal for use on cattle since 2002.

Like bb338 says if you think you are not being on your truckloads to slaughter houses tested slip a drug in once you see. They got your name or will have it very shortly. Now these custom butchers, load em up on drugs they will never know.

I suppose there are, so what’s your point? How do you know that these “some people” administered the drug and then shipped the cattle to slaughter and not kept them on the farm or that the cattle died on their own?

I have given antibiotics that were prescribed for my horse’s injured foot to my bull for his injured foot. But I didn’t ship either out to slaughter. So what?
