Our state has still 92% of it in drought. Our area is very good. Had another 20 mls of rain today with maybe a bit more tomorrow. Our gullies are running along nicely. Parts of other states are bad as well. The northern part of the country from a line from Sydney to Perth gets summer rains and there should be more storms from now on.
We have had the best start for spring that I can remember for a long time. We have clover coming through the old dry grass,we have been burning as much of the nuisance stuff as we can get time when the winds are right.I have to mow the lawn twice a week from now on.

It just feels odd .... I'm heading into winter, and you talking about the spring... :D
 
i really do think that I live in a very nice place. The climate is very nice. Gets a little cold in winter but its OK better than the hot weather. Our summers are relatively mild compared to other areas.Our area being on the eathern fall (the edge of the Great Dividing Range) we get a fair bit of coastal influence as far as rain goes. We ended up getting 21 mls of rain yesterday. For the year we have had almost 25 inches so far could expect another may be 6 inches before years end. We would still be under our 34 inch average. Many parts of our country have only had 4 to 6 inches for the year.We are really blessed. Our cattle are looking good. The calves are growing.

Pleased to hear you are getting rain AC,I am hearing some horror stories from some of my other Aussie contacts.
I still haven't got used to Christmas in Winter!-we used to Braai (BBQ) next to the pool on Christmas.

Do you think you could send some of that rain up here. We were supposed to get a storm the other night, and we got wind, thunder and lightning but no rain. I can't be sure how much of our state's in drought, but I know Toowoomba just went on Level 5 Water Restrictions, which means water used outside basically. Our primary water source, Wivenhoe Dam, is at 33% I think. Not that we get any of it anyway, we're the closest town to it but we're on tank water. I don't really see the justice in that.

What most of us have seen of Australia is from the movies and I got to tell you I wouldn't mind riding some of that Snowy River country before I die. I was born in the swamps of South Louisiana but have always loved the mountains and as far as I'm concerned the only way to see them is horseback.

We got 3" of rain about ten days ago and I wanted to go run around in it naked but my wife wouldn't let me. She said the sight of a sixty year old man running around naked in the rain was more then the neighbors could stand.Z
 
I was corrected last night by my mother about how full our(well the more suburban areas) primary water source, Wivenhoe, is at 26.8% not 33%.
 
I could correct Australia's water problems easily. Some of our east coast rivers should have their water diverted to the inland.Every new home should be made to have a tank erected with it. For many years there has been talk about diverting the Burdekin in far north Queensland into the inland and the Clarence of northern NSW into the Condamine. Also the endless amount of water in the Ord river in northern Western Australia needs to be sent somewhere too.
Too many bureaucrats in our country.
