Been seeing were drones with cameras will be the next big hobby attraction. I am concerned about invasion of privacy, what will keep people flying over your place to search out items to steal . If the drone is accidentally shot down , can charges be filed against the Person who accidentally shot the drone down, Looks like a whole new can of worms are being opened up. Does anyone have any experience with drones or drone laws?

They will be a useful tool for farmers and ranchers to check crops and cattle, but I do not like the idea of the average person searching my place, seeing me me taking a crap out in the woods.

Hypothetically speaking, one would think it would be hard to get a conviction if there was no evidence of a crash site or wreckage. Also hypothetically, one would think it would be trespassing to search for said site or wreckage on private property.

Uh, the evidence will be on camera tramsimitted back to whoever is flying it. At least on some it will, some will all be contained with the camera.

Unfortunately you can't keep things from flying over and around your place. I'm sure it already happens everyday. You don't own airspace.

i know nothing about the laws. i will say that i had a guest who brought a pretty high ends one up to one of our California ranches and i was very impressed with the picture quality. i saw some pretty good opportunity to use something like it within an operation moving forward. we sent it over ponds to check water levels and feed conditions in poorly accessible draws and canyons etc. the problem of course is that anything the landowner is doing with a drone, i would suspect anyone else could too assuming the drone was capable of accessing the property from where they launched it.

I think the possibilities are endless, for use in agriculture. I wouldn't want my neighbor watching me with one though. I think you can get a decent one for well under $1000 now, but I may be wrong. Selling aerial views of property is not as lucrative as it once was due to the advent of Google earth etc., but I can still see some use for them in that area. Especially for realestate.

You're right BF, the prices on drones are pretty reasonable. I'm toying with the idea of getting one myself. We have a problem with treaspassers during hunting season.

Didn't some guy get arrested a few weeks ago for shooting one down that kept coming over his place?? Can't remember where it was but was in the US. A number of commercial airliners have had to abort landings due to seeing drones around airports.

I don't doubt it TB, I just want one for use strictly over our property and have no intentions of snooping on anybody else or getting near airline traffic flyways.

I'm not particularly knowledgeable about drones, but I have been told that current regulations require them to be visible to the operator at all times. That will somewhat restrict their use.

Shouldn't hurt a thing. Might really turn into a nice hobby and useful with the cattle as well. You get one you gotta post some of your pics.
