Help Support CattleToday:

I got my 2nd new eye put in late yesterday. Pretty exciting now waiting to see how good the vision is going to be as the pupil goes back to normal and things clear. So far things are looking good just a bit furry.
I hope yours goes well today Warren.

I'm curious to know how things go as time passes. I think I told you that I've got one eye with a lot of small black floaters. I didn't really notice them at first, and maybe I'm getting used to them because I don't notice them as much as a month ago. Still, sometimes it startles me as something in my peripheral vision looks like a wasp. So I'm curious if you have any kind of issues at all.

Now to see what other body part/s I can have replaced or modified. My next appointment is in October with my neurologist to do some nerve studies of my rt hand. He noticed I have severe muscle wastage at the base of my thumb and said it can be fixed (carpal tunnel syndrome) so why not. I'll get him to do my left hand as well as I have no strength there for grasping the cervix of older older cows. It won't help me this year but next year may help some.

Is your "muscle wastage" like this, the left hand below (on the right)? I was told it was the "ulnar nerve" being pinched in the elbow (can also be pinched in the wrist). Another sign is the little finger can be numb.

Have to be careful, a local guy had his hands done and now two years later cant hold a cup. He cant work at all now. If you do have to go the surgery route ask surgeon about a product called remplir made by orthocell. Doing wonderful things repairing nerves. Might not apply to carpel tunnel though.

He did say something about the ulnar nerve but my hearing is not real good so I have to piece together what I hear and what I google. He is a very good doctor and I trust him, one of the few that actually look and examine you not just look at test results on the computer screen. He does the nerve studies in October so I guess that will pinpoint things then refer me to a surgeon for whatever surgery is required.

Glad y

Glad your eyes are improving Ken. My brother had his done and threw away his glasses. I'm thinking of having the procedure, just trying to find time.
My mother had op for carpal tunnel (one hand at a time) and it was a great success. Good as new. Good luck.

Thank GOD for it. My second Covid outbreak after about 3-4 weeks before I realized it. One night sitting in my recliner watching TV, I closed my left eye and there was no picture on the screen that I could make out. I began to look at other things and with both eyes I could see pretty well, but when I closed the left and look directly at something, I couldn't see it. Then I notice that if I looked to the right or left maybe a foot off to either side, I could see it. I had a doctors physical the next day and I told him of this problem. He wanted me to call my eye specialist right then before I left his office. I did and they made an opening for me in Savannah, Ga (about 70 miles from me) the next day at 2:00pm. He looked and said my Macular Degeneration (had it for couple of years) had worsened and was speeded up by the Covid. He referred me to Retina specialist and he changed my eye vitamin I was taking (preservision) to another vitamin he had made. Long story short, I saw him for 2nd time in November 2023 and when they they done the eye chart, I couldn't read even the three inch letter with my right eye. Now if I look at a ceiling light with my right eye I can't even see it burning. If It's on. At this time they say there is no cure but they are developing new things everyday. I just pray that it doesn't speed up in my left eye and that a break thru May happen any day. Like I said , I can close my left eye and look directly at a burning light bulb and can't tell it it's on. Peripheral Vision in the right eye is fine but looking straight ahead with left eye closed, I can't even see my little dog when I look straight at her.

It gets serious when you are down to one eye, look after it.

Well, I'm booked in for surgery on the 15th Feb, left and right carpal tunnels and ulnar nerve at the elbow. He has no problem with doing them all in one hit so that is good. I am not expecting any miracles but any help from the procedures will be appreciated.

You will soon be the Bionic man Ken!

Then I am past my expiration date :)

In 1900, the average life expectancy of a newborn was 32 years. By 2021 this had more than doubled to 71 years. This was the case for all world regions: in 1800, no region had a life expectancy higher than 40 years. I was in good shape at 40.

With all the wars going on and the technology getting better at killing humans one would think life expectancy has peaked. Now back to the thread wbvs58 posted and not to high jack. Good luck on your procedures and I hope everything goes well. Some good information.

Once you get muscle atrophy you will never get it back.
