Cargill has announced a voluntary dog food recall involving two of its brands due to contamination with aflatoxin.

Both River Run and Marksman dry dog foods were produced at Cargill’s Lecompte, Louisiana plant.

The recall includes 13 states and 2 territories: Kansas, Missouri, Northeast Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Western Kentucky, Southeast Indiana, Southern Illinois, Hawaii, and limited areas of Florida, California Guam, and the Virgin Islands.

Aflatoxin is a toxin produced by a certain species of mold commonly found in cereal grains.

The products listed have Lot Codes 4K0335 through 4K0365, 4K1001 through 4K1335, LL0335 through LL0365, and LL1001 through LL1335 on the tag or bag and include:
■River Run Professional Formula 27-18 Dog Food 50#
■River Run 21% Protein Dog Food (50# and 40#)
■River Run Hi-NRG 24-20 Dog Food 50#

■Marksman 28-18 Dog Food 40#
■Marksman 24-20 Dog Food 40#

HD did you look up any of those products on the website we had on here earlier that rated dog foods?? I haven't either but guarantee you these will be the lower rated dog foods....heavy in aflatoxin contaminated corn and not high quality dog food.

We borded our two dogs with a local vet for four days while we were away for Thanksgiving. When we picked them up they were so happy. While in the vets care they lost weight and came home with diarrhea and would vomit and choke up their food. We called the vet and Kathy ask what our dogs were fed, we were told blablabla BS. Kathy made a batch of her home made dog food and after a week they are finally well.

Most vets sell Science diet....don't know what they feed the dogs they board but probably pretty worthless. SD is high in corn as well even though they advertise "Vet Recommended". BS.

There have been more recalls, so heads up to everyone that feeds DF with lots of corn etc.

TB I didn't look them up ,but I agree with you. Some Iams was also recalled too . I don't feed any of that stuff to my "4 legged family" but just wanted to let everyone know that there are recalls going on out there .
