I watched some lightweight calves bring from 1300 to 1700 3 and 4 wts Thursday. Heifers and steers/bulls

I'm almost of a mind to sell all my calves now rather than hold til spring, which was the original plan. Butttttt...

I don’t know for sure but I feel like there probably isn’t a lot of prime/choice cattle coming out of Mexico. Just walking hamburger.

Bossman locked in his LRP this week for our calves who aren't even born yet.

I hope so. We will have most our calves ready to sell Mar-May including the few we are feeding. It's hard to hold right now with prices this high.

We made a deal to buy 25 bred heifers 2 days before Christmas to be shipped the second week of January. The man has gone up $3-400 a head since we made the deal. He honored his price but said after first of year special sale prices he was going up on his price.

Before we bought these I talked with a broker that said they are looking for heavy bred heifers to run close to 4k when the grass greens up. I can't see those prices but there does seem to be optimism about prices staying high for awhile. This broker does sale really nice Brahman cross cattle and they are usually higher priced but $4k

It may be a mistake, but I'm gonna clear the projects out. All the calves too. Gonna sit on some hay and keep only 9 bred cows for a while.

I’ve been considering buying price protection insurance this year. I wish it was available now because I’ve got a bad feeling as to what could happen to the North American cattle market if our countries start throwing tariffs and countervailing duties at each other.
