Gotcha. I did not know anyone did body repairs on a farm truck. Serious question though, steel or aluminum, does any one repair body work any more? The last several I have had repaired the body shop just replaced the dented panels with new pre painted ones. These were all steel vehicles.

This isn't just going to be a farm truck it's my Sunday go to meeting as well.

I still do bodywork.. I'm not an expert at it, I'm slow, but my '94 doesn't have any rust on it.

Aluminum does corrode as well, especially where it's fastened to steel or other dissimilar metals.. and when it does occur, it's so much harder to fix

Whether aluminum is better than steel is up for debate. What is more remarkable is that after crapping on aluminium and running ads in favor of steel over aluminium: Guess What? Chevy is planning on building with aluminum.


So after a whole ad campaign crapping on Ford’s aluminum F-150, sources say GM’s planning “significant model changes” on the Chevy Silverado, Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade for 2018 including more use of aluminum and lightweight steel. You can’t make this stuff up.

My cousin works for a fertilizer dealer, and his company truck is Dodge 1/2 ton with the 5.7 Hemi. He told me he set a personal record this year, pulling a 37,000 lb (including truck) load of NH3 tanks with this truck. Good thing he didn't find a state trooper along the way.
