Seeing AC's joke about the Dodge reminds me one day I was cutting hay when a neighbor drove down the road in a new Dodge truck. So I got off the tractor to speak to him and asked him how he liked the new truck. He said it was like having an ugly girlfriend. They both give good service but you can't take them to town on Saturday.

I did bring his wife and a new Dodge trk home and he sure as he77 ain't happy about one of them
He said something about moving her in with me and I told him she could move in anytime but as soon as she moved in I was moving in with him
She ain't showed up yet

I had one Dodge--it was ok, but had some kinda funky ignition with a big honkin resister mounted on the back firewall that was always giving problems. 318 and 383s were otherwise pretty bulletproof tho.
Newer ones I dunno--my b-i-l has had to put 2 transmissions in his 2001.

You DO know why the newer Dodges came with tow hooks on the front---don't ya?

I had one Dodge in my life...half ton pickup...318...wouldn't get over 13 mpg if you dropped it out of a cargo plane and not enough power to pull a load of cottonballs.

i work at a chevy dealership, but i am a cummins man ....id take one even in the old body style . rebuilt a salvaged 94 3/4 ton 4wd. ""talk about a headache'''.. but the best truck i ever owned.. still wish i had it.... :nod:

Had an 89 (I think it ws) one ton....great ol' truck. Only thing I had to replace broken motor mounts a couple times.

I don't remember what year mine was--80s something, and yeah, it wasn't known for economy, but I hauled a trailer loaded (overloaded usually) with oilfield stuff from Lafayette la to all over Oklahoma and West Texas and back many many times without a whimper.
Maybe I just got one of the good ones, and "Never buy a Friday built anything".

I've got an '08 Silverado. My first ever (and last ever) Chevy truck. Nothing terribly wrong with it except I should have not gotten the small v8. I do curse it every time I look out there and see that Govt Motors emblem on it tho. :D
But I haven't always felt that way. Had a 61 Vette in the early 70s I was pretty proud of, and for the last 10-12 years the wife and I have been into Pontiac Fieros. Two years ago, I had 5 of them but have culled the herd down to only 84 Indy versions. 2000 of them built--228 known by the Indy database to be left in the world and I have 2 of them. (and no--they havent caught fire yet--I know someone was gonna ask)

No, I can't get in 'em without knockin my hat off but they get 30 mpg--more if I keep my foot out of it.

Just goes to show ya that anything can become collectible.

we had one on consignment here, that someone put a caddy northstar v8 engine in.....scary fast...if they had the technology they have now,, back then.. it would have been a neat little car .... but Gm Ford and Chrysler built sht during the mid late 70's trough to late 80''s...

Mine are bone stock Indys--just as they came off the line.

The popular and fast mod is to drop a v6 3.8sc engine in, but I've seen them with SBCs, 4.9 caddy engines, even a longitudinal mounted Ford 427. I rode shotgun in one across the Lake Texoma bridge at 130 mph.

An elec (battery) powered Fiero set an EV world record recently for running the Texas Mile at Beeville at 155 MPH with a 35 sec ET.
He runs the 1/4 in 9.89 making his "officially" the world's fastest Fiero--and he still drives it on the street.

It was neat to watch the video, but I ain't much of a fan of any electric cars AT ALL.

Does this make me a redneck? (I had to try it--just to see if it would fit--I drove it out on the other side of the house)

I don't think so...........maybe a little eccentric in a cool ZZ Top kinda way. I always like cars like that, seems like the more not worth a crap a car was just makes it that much cooler when it gets old. I guess it's because after 30or 40 years there is not many left around.
