Have a 05 dodge duelly. Bought new in 05. 3 years ago, when you slowed down to about 35mph it had a viberation in the rearend. Turned out the driveshaft was bad, A piece came off and threw it out of balance. Dealership fixed it no questions asked.Well yesterday started doing the same thing. Mind you it is still under warranty. Carried it to the dealership, they checked it out, same thing. warranty will cover it. BUT! this time, I will have to pay a $100 deductable. What's up with that?? Now mind you this is factory warranty. Not an extended warranty, or one you buy after the 1st warranty goes out. Is this right? Or is the dealership trying to stick it to me???

If you have the original power-train warranty paperwork read it closely and the deductible should be in the fine print somewhere. How many miles on the truck now?

If you're over x amount of miles there's a deductible.
Tell me bout your vibration though. High speed vibration or a bouncing. I've had a bouncing vibration right at 42 mph for the last 200k miles. Been told rims were bent, not bent, and everything in between

It is a bouncing type vibration. The first time it was at about 35 mph. This time it's at about 15 mph. It doesn't do it till you get slowed down to a certain speed. Bet you a dollar to a donut,it's your driveshaft.

Does'nt Dodge / Cummins advertise that the truck comes with a 100% 100k power train warranty?

They haven't fixed it yet. They say they're swamped. Said they would call, when they could get to it. I'll ask, how they diagnosed it, when I carry it in, and get back to you.

well its a he^% of a lot easier now, to diagnose one then when i was a mechanic... road test,, type in symptom in computor pulls up bulletins of known problems,, narrows it way down.. though remember alot of parts on vehicles aint made by them ,,, could have been a weak weld on the weight from the company

I bought a brand new Ford truck when catolytic converters first started that would start to squeel at 55-65 then it would quit. A firend of mine owned the ford dealer so I took him for a rid. We gut to running along and it started, got to 65 and it quit. He had me pull over on the shoulder and he crawled under the truck. When he got back in we went through the drill again and it didn;t make a sound. When we got back to the dealership he told me to pull around to the service bays. He told the head mechanic to pull the converter shield away from the converter. When they unloaded it off the truck the sheild got bent to where it just almost touched the converter, at the right vibration 55-65 it would just touch enough to squeel. When he crawled under it on the road he put a little piece of wood where it was rubbing. I'll gaurantee you won;t find that in a service bulletin.

That's like some of the ford 6.0 trucks dun. Hard left turn on acceleration would cause exhaust pipe from turbo to vibrate on the firewall. Not a squeal but a drone type sound. Took awhile for some to figure that out

alot of the service bulletins come from feed back technical assistants get from the dealer service techs at the dealers... weather they find it was bent in delivery, or what ever.. it aint all concrete, i once worked on a problem where the car would miss during a rain turned ot to be a drain that wasnt stamped out of the fender well sucking water up into the carb through the evap system
