As some of you know my wife manages a community center..and ever year around this time . She has to hold a funeral in the center..for someone that drove drunk ...last week we put a couple of young men in the ground. So have a good time but If you drink this holiday season get a ride don,t drive

Merry Christmas

Good message thanks. Also, don't ride with anyone who has been drinking even if they say they can drive.

Frenchie, My eldest brother and I used to be very close. One day he turned alcoholic. It was if someone had flipped a light switch. He went through several good wives and put my parents through pure misery.

I quit drinking after seeing what he did to my parents and his own life. He is now dead due to wrecked health that came right out of that bottle.

A year and a half ago I went on a week long Alaskan cruise for my 25th anniversary. I jumped off the wagon on that cruise and I was a very cheap date

Anyway, I'll be sober. You can count on it.

I am always the DD as I don't drink. but it is foolhardy to think you can ride anything when drunk. a guy near me got a fine for riding a horse while under the influance of drink, he thought he would get away with it.

Good post, frenchie!

It's time people start realizing the drinking and driving thing...

I'm not gonna be surprised if the RCMP are gonna but a bunch of checkstops around the area...they always do this time of year.

Good post and good reminder. I was run off the road by a drunk driver 11 years ago. I still am having back problems because of it, could have been worse though, I could have been dead. There is just never an excuse to drink and drive.

Thanks for the post Frenchie.

My 2 kids were getting on a school bus at 7:30 in the morning and were about killed by a 18 yr old drunk driver, missed my daughter by a few feet. He smashed the whole back of the bus in.

People need to realize how long alcohol stays in your system. He was .115 at the hospital 2 hours after the accident.

Depending on body weight and when he had his last drink he was likely over .150 at the time of collision.

I drive school bus. If this guy hit my bus it may have been a fatal collision.

It's good to hear there's startin' to be designated drivers for those kids that are goin to parties and drinkin', Carlos. You can tell her that for me.

My hat's off to her, she (and many other mounties) do an awesome job.

I had some fool tell me the DD can drink, they drink less!!

Told her to ask the next cop she saw what they thought of that idea.

Comes to mind everyone should think of is the ones these crazies killed when they chose to drive drunk. Local story, a few years ago, a family was coming home from the fair, late at night, parents 2 kids, one 11, lil girl age 7, a army guy on leave driving drunk, going over 100mph, was passing a car, hit thier car head on, father was the least injured, Mom critically injured she lived, older boy in ICU for a week, he lived, 7 year old, cute as a button, dead, life wiped out by an idiot.

The whole town was shocked, the father was the Principal at a local school, where his daughter, who died, attended, a tragic story.

The army guy got sentenced to 7 years in jail, he only served 7 months. Where is the justice in that?

Guess he will have to live with the fact he killed a child, but to me the sentence should have been completely served.
