Disposing of old wire

Any tricks on getting rid of old wire? Other than finding a deep hole and burying it.

Most counties around here have collection sites for scrap metal, such as a place that accepts aluminum cans and the like.

The scrap iron dealer in our area will buy ours. That was not the case 10 years ago, but things have changed.

I give all our's to a feller that makes his living collecting scrap metals. I've got some scrap cattle panels on the back of my truck for him tomorrow.

Recyclers will not take it here, we bury it, hide it in the woods or whatever else it takes to get rid of it.

Need to take it to the local flea market and sell it. These folks that are in to homemade crafts, etc. love this stuff. Especially the larger gauge, old rusty barb wire. They also really like old barn siding - one inch boards that are 4-6 inches wide and really weathered.

Are the recyclers for paper,glass,plastics, and aluminum?
Usually a place that scraps cars, appliances, copper, brass, etc. will take it. A neighbor down the road just got $30. for his old wire. Scrap steel prices are at an all time high?

I hauled some scrap metal the other day.

You shouldnt have any trouble at all getting rid of metal products right now.
If you do and you live close to western NY let me know and I'll send someone over to help you out :lol: .

We have the same problem with round bale net wrap it blows all over the barn yard like tumble weeds.

Tangles up his machinery he said. You can haul it thirty miles and they'll pay ya for it. Yes, it is paying pretty good here right now.

Here we carry it to our local dump & they discard it....most of the time....

Most of ours has been thrown in any cement we pour ..
