the wet winter left us with alot of ruts in the pasture an hay meadow.so we had to hook the big disk to the tractor an do some heavy disking.finally got everything pretty smooth again.an it sure looks alot better.maybe the grass will spread real good.
 
My pasture renovation has been a disaster again this year........crap just won't grow without rain..... :mad:

Actually the only thing I have in a newly seed meadow is crap. Not one blade of grass has sprouted. You would think that at least the bahia I sprayed would have come back from the seed bank.

Weeds will sprout without rain and actually grow pretty well. :cry2:
 
I've noticed in my Texas Tuff the common bermuda is almost non existent. It really took a beating last year. The Giant is sparse but it is their. Just needs water and fertilizer. Oldest millet is starting to head out, it was planted 2 1/2 months ago and is barely knee high. Second planting is a month and a half and started coming up two weeks ago after our last rain. Kleingrass was planted after the rain two weeks ago on a decent seed bed. If it sprouted it is dead now. Bluestem hasn't had a chance to do anything either.

Sure wish I could have given you guys this last rain we had 2 1/4 inches last night. We need some dry weather. They are still trying to plant corn around here. They better just switch to beans when they can get back in the field. We had a good week last week then rain again.
 
Not so funny, but it went from too wet to too dry in about 2 weeks around here. Corn (and land prep) was delayed by wet weather. Finally got dry enough to scratch something in the ground and basically has rained once since.

It ain't here yet. Might make it, might not. Besides, on little rain isn't going to be enough. It has to rain again in a timely manner. THAT is the problem...
 
Might make it after all......Thundering pretty heavy to the southwest. Radar shows a good heavy line about 5 miles out now.

When we bought this farm we had a 27 acre field that had foot high ridges every 8 feet. Apparantly the previosu guy believed in speed discing and alwasy made the exact same passes. Only took 3 years to get it so you could drive acrossed it and not get thrown off the tractor
 
dun we have a place we go in an out of that still has 3ft deep ruts in it.an we cant cover them.so we are going to put in a culvert an put in a new gate.
