Disgruntled Farmer Blows Up School.

With all of the recent school shootings there was a article in the news papper and it stated that the columbine shooting was not the largest mass school massacure to of ever taken place. In 1927 a farmer who was mad about paying taxes placed 500lbs of dynamite in a school in Michigan blowing it up killing 37 students and 8 teachers.

It did not say what the school had to do with his taxes. But he took it out on the school.

There always has been sickos out there and there always will be. Doesn't matter what kind of laws we pass these nuts will find some way to carry out there warped plans unless we put them away early and keep them there. Never heard of a man on death row being a repeat offender. IMO

His name was Andrew Kehoe, it happened in Bath, Michigan, and he was not all there - probably due to an earlier head injury, according to this link. 42 people dead, and another 61 injured.

Interesting Story but Disturbing.

The Bath School disaster was a series of bombings in Bath Township, Michigan, USA, on May 18, 1927, which killed 45 people and injured 58. Most of the victims were children in second to sixth grades attending the Bath Consolidated School. The bombings constituted the deadliest act of mass murder in a school in U.S. history, claiming more than three times as many victims as the Columbine High School massacre.

The perpetrator was school board member Andrew Kehoe, who was upset by a property tax that had been levied to fund the construction of the school building. He blamed the additional tax for financial hardships which led to foreclosure proceedings against his farm. These events apparently provoked Kehoe to plan his attack.

On the morning of May 18, Kehoe first killed his wife and then set his farm buildings on fire. As fire fighters arrived at the farm, an explosion devastated the north wing of the school building, killing many of the people inside. Kehoe used a detonator to ignite dynamite and hundreds of pounds of pyrotol which he had secretly planted inside the school over the course of many months. As rescuers started gathering at the school, Kehoe drove up, stopped, and detonated a bomb inside his shrapnel-filled vehicle, killing himself and the school superintendent and killing and injuring several others. During the rescue efforts, searchers discovered an additional 500 pounds (230 kg) of unexploded dynamite and pyrotol planted throughout the basement of the school's south wing.

In retrospect, I'm just glad that President Coolidge had the foresight to realize what a serious threat these so-called farmers were to the security of the American people.

I'm grateful that he rounded up the worst fiends among them and sent them to foreign countries and offshore military bases where the Constitution doesn't apply so that they could be tortured.

I'm especially thankful that he sent the Army to occupy farmland halfway around the world when he realized that it is better to fight farmers overseas than let them wreak havoc here at home.

Despite the fact that we looked like fools to the rest of the world and lost billions of dollars, seriously dented our global prestige, and sacrificed several thousand young men doing it, at least Cowboy Cal could declare "Mission Accomplished" when the "War on Farmers" came to its victorious conclusion.

That President Coolidge was a man with some real foresight.

this guy Andrew Kehoe must have wanted to kill, because if it was just the school building he was upset with, he would have done his bombings at the weekend or half term when there were no children around surely. It is a shame that they all seem to kill themselves after, and not let the people at them. This world seems to be filled with sicko's. hope no one reads these old posts on the net and tries copy cating them.
