The PTO shaft on my Kuhn GMD 600 HD came apart at the knuckle end on the mower. I'm trying to source a replacement and getting quotes around $900-$1100 for a OEM replacement. It looks like it's a Category 4 100 series -- 1 3/8" 6 spline. The mower is 13 years old and has cut a lot of acres. Anyone know if there are cheaper options out there or if this is a case where it's worth it to get the OEM replacement?

It may be repairable. I got a lead on a place that may be able to do it -- but it's more than a bearing -- it will require some machining.

I just was wondering if I could get buy with an off the shelf option to get going again sooner. Shipping times, my drive times to a fabricator, and my schedule this week are a mess -- and I'd prefer not to wait until middle/end of next week.
 
I gave $1,400 for the last Bushhog driveline I bought. It was an aftermarket unit, they're fairly expensive for some reason.

I needed another PTO shaft for my Kuhn GMD600 HD as some tractors takes longer shafts and what I have was cut off to fit a short lift arm tractor. I bought a longer aftermarket, and it seems as good as the OEM.

Thanks for all the replies. I was able to source a shaft locally for just a bit more than the discmowerdoctor site (thanks for posting that -- will use for some other things). It just took a few phone calls and a dealer giving me a tip to call another dealer. So there is still hope for humanity :-)
