What is everyone's preference on their oil they use in their tractors? I've been using Shell Rotella 15W/40 for years but recently heard a mechanic say he didn't like it. What say you guys.....

Our tractors all get Walmart 15W40, which I hear is Shell Rotella repackaged. Oil gets changed every 100 hours.

In my truck that I just built a new engine for, I'm going to go with Lucas diesel engine oil.. a bit pricier, but a friend of mine swears by it so I'll give it a shot.

Been using 5W40 synthetic in diesels that must run in winter. Kubota starts good in unheated shed without being plugged in down to 0. Last year I used Rotella synthetic. This year the oil is changed with Cenex Maxtron 5W40.

Rotella 15W/40 exclusively. I won't run anything else. I've had excellent success with this oil for nearly 20 years. "If it's not broke, don't fix it."

Walmart 15W-40 in the truck and loader tractor, Walmart straight 30 in the other.

Did regular oil testing on truck when first started using Walmart oil (switched from Rotella - too expensive) and test results from two credible sources gave Walmart oil a big thumbs up even after 5000-6000 miles.

+1
Using this for years and have over 5000 hours on a tractor with still a tight engine.

I only have one tractor, a John Deere, so I'm not maintaining a fleet but I use John Deere brand. I've never heard a bad thing about Rotella though. I wouldn't use Wal-Mart anything if it was free.

10w OR 15w is too thick for SD winters, or is it just that you don't plug in?

Does the old 15w/40 rotella still have foaming issues? Just curious because that's why I don't run it.

I first heard about it with 6.0 guys and ford not warranting injector issues because when the oil got hot it was foaming.

Rotella 15-40 in mt Dodge Cummins and 10-40 Penzoil in my Kubota MX5000 no problems.

To oil or not to oil, that is the question.
In my dad's tractor (Ford) he uses Rotella 15/40. (some foaming)
In my 7.3 I use Motorcraft 15/40
In my tractor (Massey Ferguson) I will be using either Supertech, Citgo or ?? Not sure as this will be the first oil change on this used tractor for me.
