Diarrhea

Picked these two up at the auction about a month ago and this one has had diarrhea on and off. Any suggestions on how to clear it up or what it could be?

Everyone probably has their favorites. I've always used either injectable ivermectin or Safeguard pellets. Both have worked fine, but they were more preventative than trying to clean one up.

If it's bloody at all it will be coccidiosis and it can easily be treated with Corid.

Don't wait till it is bloody to give Corid. Corid is perfectly safe to use even as a preventative. I have two calves on
Corid right now because in the past when calves get weaned in the one location Corid is what clears up the diarrhea
they seem to get. They also get wormed.

I've posted this before but may help identify what you're dealing with. Best thing is to take a fecal to the vet.

Manure stuck to the tail like that could just be too much protein/feed. The actual "manure" will tell you more - see TC's post.

Deworm with anything other than ivermectin, treat for coccidiosis, test for BVD and Johne's disease
