DHS Check Point

Poor guys... they are out there trying to do a pretty dangerous job and you got some idiot trying to be a youtube star. I don't think its illegal or any thing but its pretty tasteless. Its one thing to film some one doing some thing wrong... its another to try and create an issue.

I appreciate your take and agree that it isn't cool to defy agents just for notoriety. However, it is the fed that puts them 50 or more miles in some places off the border. That isn't border patrol and they aren't doing their job of securing the border. They are impeding citizens at that point. And civil disobediance doesn't seem so wrong to me in that instance.

It is a lot like everyone having to take off your shoes so the foreign muslims with student visas on the watch list won't feel they are being victimized, and all it is is false security and invasion of privacy.

It amazed me the first time i went through one of those way north of el Paso. I did feel intimidated and I really wasn't comfortable going through there as I felt like i was getting ready to find out if they respected the Texas castle law. It would be one thing if I had done so.ething to deserve being pulled over, or if crossing the border. I did neither. 50 miles or even 25 is a long freaking way.

Secondly, what are they doing when they catch them? ICE won't deport them. Last year they started giving them asylum?????

So why are we searching US citizens in US cars in the US?

It is a joke, a real funny one on the rights of Americans. Haha, you really don't have any!

I thought these were all DHS.

I agree, Obama has directed ICE to cool it (I kill me).

So why would DHS do this checking? Just for show like they do at the airport.

I heard from somewhere ???
They can't afford to keep the illegals out because these people use a fake ss numbers and pay into it and fica but do not collect from either so it is all profit so to speak and they are dependent on what they pay in

Here it is. It is called a suspense account.

From Wikipedia

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is a United States federal law enforcement agency under the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), responsible for identifying, investigating, and dismantling vulnerabilities regarding the nation's border, economic, transportation, and infrastructure security. ICE has two primary components: Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). Headquartered in Washington, D.C., ICE is charged with the investigation and enforcement of over 400 federal statutes within the United States, and maintains attachés at major U.S. embassies overseas.

ICE is led by a director, who is appointed at the sub-Cabinet level by the president of the United States, confirmed by the Senate, and reports directly to the Secretary of Homeland Security.[1] ICE is the second largest criminal investigations agency in the U.S. government, following the FBI.[2] The mission of ICE is to protect the United States and uphold public safety by enforcing immigration and customs laws.

See if you can count the number of jokes above.... I mean.. :frowns: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: ..... :dunce: ...... :D The End

Howdy folks!

Back from traveling - a bit banged up - pretty much all healed and am back on the farm - life is good.

Thought I might do some reading to catch up on things happening and ran across this thread.

Had to laugh.

You asked:

What's ya'll's take on this?

My take on it is the American citizen is so used to being told what to do in the "name of safety" they have actually freely given up their right of freedom of movement (and much more) - and when they see someone actually stand up for their constitutional rights - they are quick to ridicule those people who demand their constitutional rights. Many might not have liked what those people did at the check points, but in fact those travellers were within their rights and stood up for their rights - something most of you have given up without a fight.

The fact that the armed "police/ICE agents/whatever" eventually let them go proves those travellers were actually within their rights. They were not sheep - many who read this will see my point but would actually be afraid to confront those officials with their rights. Sheep get slaughtered - I know I raise them.

Those issues were not created simply for fun - they were created because they correctly demanded their constitutional rights - you know, that silly little piece of paper so many fine men and women died to create? (sarcasm folks, sarcasm)

They are videoed so people who would like to understand what to do when demanding their rights - can actually have a clue about how to go about demending those rights. It is a video lesson!!

If you let your rights slip away - and most of you have - almost all will bow and cow to a person in uniform - you are simply doing what the official wants you to do. Next year you will lose even more. What you have today is only a tiny bit of what you had before. You are searched and seized and blocked and pepper sprayed and tasered almost at will for doing nothing more than standing up for your rights - and there are so many examples out there. All you have to do is look and see.

All in the name of safety.

All in the name of being reasonable.

When the Dept of Homeland Security comes and starts sending your people to major and already built detention camps in the future you will wonder what in the he l l happened. Yeah, those detention centres are built - someone must have a plan to use them.

I know many believe me to be more than a bit outrageous when I write like this - but those camps are built, the heavy armoured vehicles are bought, the tens of millions of rounds of ammunition are purchased, the heavy automatic weapns have been purchased, the gigantic storage and warehouse complexes have been built, the young and impressionable are trained and already wearing body armour - and you folks have never wondered ... Why?

I thought that was what the army and the police were for?

The answer is large scale round ups of people who - while they may be standing up for their rights - will indeed be called dissidents and there will be a concerted media effort to bring the remainder of the US of A population into line - somewhat like trained seals - by convincing the population that those who are being "detained" are the problem - not the people who rounded them up.

The above comment is a bright light - someone sees it.

Look if I wanted to bring America to its knees for 10 days I would only need 500 trained and armed men. It would be an easy job - in fact I could lay the plan out on two standard sized sheets of paper.

The precedent has been set. Look how your population cowed to the police and the army and let rights be trampled in the name of safety - all it took was a couple of kids in Boston.

Five determined and trained men in 100 major cities would collapse the US of A for at least ten days - all in the name of safety - when in fact the population is the best security force.

The Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto was up front when he said that to invade the US of A would be foolhardy because everyone is armed.

The Brits went to work every day of the blitz - no way Jerry was going to stop life in London with a few bombs!

But the population of the US of A of today is easily put in its place by its own security forces which run roughshod over its own citizens. All in the name of safety.

Time some of you realized how fragile your rights are and how quickly your rights are disappearing.

I am sure there will be the "you are Canadian and have no say" thoughts - but trust me - I have seen peoples rights violated all over the world at the point of a rifle - and all in the name of security and all while following orders. (Sound familiar?)

It is a simple step to see it in your own home someday soon.

PAPERS! PLEASE! NOW!

So endeth my first rant - now that I am back

C'mon! You know you missed me! LOL

Best to all

I'm not against the guys doing it... I just think if your not happy with how they operate go to court or higher up the food chain. Giving the guys pounding the pavement a hard time won't change any thing .

I guess I have a soft spot for them. I get chewed on by landowners and stuff some times at work. At the end of the day I don't make those decisions so chewing on me won't change any thing. I am nobody in the big picture. :D

Actually, presenting the guys on the front line with the truth and the camera (which does make a difference) all gets back up the line to the boss sooner or later and MAY change the treatment of the public.

If you have the money to go to court then by all means do so - however the system is designed to prevent you from going there.

There is a justice system for those who can afford it - for the rest of us it is a legal system.

By recording the activity and allowing others to see it, there is an education for those who do indeed wish to exercise their constitutional rights and priviliges - and do not know how to do it.

Without video, many wrongs cannot be proven and many rights cannot be shown.

The people in the vehicles did what they did simply because they realize how easy it is to lose a right. They also did it in the manner it was done because there is no other way to do it.

If you are not careful and precise it always comes down to the following - you get threatened, you get man handled, you get sprayed, you get tasered, or you get shot.

The words those people used were specific for a reason. Most of the population has no clue about those words and how they are to be used. Do it wrong and you will get hurt. And do it with or without video and you may still get hurt - which is why the one driver did not lower his window.

Fear and past examples are real - and video actually keeps some uniform wearers far more honest.

And it is a rare day that anyone wearing a uniform pays a legal price for their actions - be they right or wrong. You on the other hand - without video examples - despite the "innocent until proven guilty" are judged by the media and the uniform wearers as being anything but innocent. That video has been and is a life saver.

As for being a "nobody" in the big picture - you could not be more wrong. You are a voice, a vote and a person who has and can demand the right to be heard.

NEVER say you are a nobody - otherwise your country is built upon 350 million "nobodies". One single voice can raise more issues and bring down more villains by simply repeating the truth over and over and over again - especially when everyone else wants you to stop.

Courage of conviction and demanding the rights presented in the constitution may be the only thing that saves your azz or your country some day.

Never forget that.

I just figured out why you didn't get an invite to the mess on the south side of the border. Welcome Back!

Bez,
I see it the same way. I am cursed with the fault of looking at all sides, and I still agree with what you said in all respects.

I admit, the odds seem overwhelming, the task quite large and the outcome almost inevitable, but the fight is a good fight. If it comes to that.

It is hard to fight an enemy that is so incremental in its takeover. It is hard to point clearly at your enemy when so many of your friends deny even his existence.
