Got an extended deer season this year on spike and doe up until the 16 of Jan.
Way I understand it if your sixteen or under you can also shoot a legal buck.(13 in spread or over)
That is here in Montague county.

I am going to harvest two doe from the front porch. Going to make steaks from the back strap and break in my new meat grinder with the rest. My dog loves deer meat. To many does this year. Got two eight pointers all ready. Alot of turkeys this year also.
Maybe one big hog for sausage.

The deer are so pressured by hunters in this area that they are becoming more nocternal(sp) every year.Used to every evening you could see several herds on wheat fields. Now it's hard to catch them out of a day.My trail camera's tell me they come out at dark and feed to about 2 or 3 am and go back and bed down.I hardly have anything of a day exept a few bobcats and yotes. And of course a fat squirell or two enjoying the feed.

Same thing around here Calmen. But in a small way that is good because the deer survive that way. We have alot of city boys, and I know you do to that shoot anything that moves.

Yea we get quite a few Dalas and Ft.Worth guys hunting up this way.
A lawyer from Dalas bought 200 acres next to where I hunt and he and his SIL hunts it.
But the amazing thing about it is they're good hunters.Don't trash it up and will not shoot just anything that moves. And he also lets the neighbor on the other side run his cattle on it and gives him the coastel field for hay so he can keep it mowed down.
