This breeding season has gone extremely well. I have serviced all my cows. I still have a couple heifers left.

Some of my cows are hitting that 11 year old number. Their reproductive system is getting stretched. When breeding one big cow, The rod was in to the hilt when I got past the last ring! If she stretches any further, I will need a straw gun extender.

Ron, I find it much more pleasurable to do the heifers and 1st and 2nd calvers.
I often wonder how on earth do the spermatazoa meet up with the egg in that vast cavity inside those old ducks. I hate using the .25ml straws in those.

I wonder if two straws would be a better bet in some of the big wombs.

I had a cow where you'd have the whole gun and hand inside, she was very fertile though. When you see them empty a whole straw and it is basically three drops, you really wonder how it works at all.

When I saw the subject line I thought you were talking phenotype. I do understand what your talking about old cows can be really difficult for this old short lady! I much prefer AI work on heifers.
