Dead calf after calving

Recently i had a a heifer calve. The calving went well, and the calf sucked and appeared healthy. Though a short time later he died. Wondering if anyone might be able to give me some insight into what happened.

Have you take it to the vet for the autopsy? There might have some internal injuries or something went wrong inside the calf.

Occasionally they suck, but can't break tit loose. Neighbor has one that every year he has to put cow in squeeze chute after calving and start each tit by hand. It is hard sometimes to determine if they actually got milk when they sucked.
