Horns will reduce the price by more then it costs to take them off so they should be dehorned. The presents or absince of horns is controlled by the polled/hron gene. If an animal inherits one polled gene and one horned gene, 1 from each parent, it will be polled. If it inherits two polled genes it will be polled. If it inherits two horned genes it will be horned. The horned gene can be hidden in a line of cattle for years, it maybe present and never show up, or periodically pop up with horned calves. It works the same as black and red color genes, black is dominant, polled is dominant, an animal can be black but still carry the red gene the same as an animal can be polled and carry the horne gene.
