Weather forecast called for a 50% chance of showers then its supposed to clear off for a few days. I got a good rain today about 11:00 a.m. I looked at the radar around two and there was a small blip in Alabama that looked like it was heading north but a long way from me. Needing as much drying time as possible to get this crotch deep hay cut I laid it down. Just finished at dark. IT'S RAINING NOW!

Now correct me if I'm wrong. 50% + 50% is a 100% isn't it? I mean, it hasn't rained twice in one day in ages. Oh well. I guess my day is planned for me. Just call me Fluffy. :oops:

Well look at the bright spot, maybe it won't rain again till after you finish now. Where we are you never cuss the rain.
Sure hard to believe how dry it was just a few months ago, we've sure been blessed.
 
We've got close to 200 acres that need to be cut. All we can get it two days of good weather then rain. Been thinking about renting a wrapper and putting the coastal and Russell up like that. The russell is a new field planted 3 years ago. It has a pile of field grass in it and needs about 4 days to dry enough to roll.
 
Murphy did know his stuff. This field is very deep and should yield 8-10 rolls/acre. I'm gonna need at least three days for it to dry even after conditioning. The rain shouldn't hurt the quality any since its fresh cut but this sure makes it aggrevating. That tiny thin line of clouds dumped rain for several hours. Two rains in the same day. We didn't get that much when they predicted 80% .... of course I didn't cut any hay either. :bang: Its not that I mind the total aggrevation of all of this unneccessary work its my carbon footprint that worries me. ;-) :lol2:

They just bumped the rain chances up for Tuesday! :bang: If I buy the plastic tomorrow Murphy's law should make it where I don't need the plastic so maybe this will give me time to stop payment on the check and return the plastic. Of course if Murphey knows this is my plan it will surely rain and I'll need the plastic. :???:
 
Not as bad- but I finally thought I saw a break in the rain yesterday(thunderstorms almost every afternoon for the last month)- and sprayed all my fences.
Started raining at 1am of all things.

I get one more chance at it tomorrow- then the next ten days are out.

Nobody is even thinking about trying to get any hay down around here- never seen so many days of rain this time of year.
 
Jo, with some all wet and some bone dry, I think we could sell folks on the idea of a cap-n-trade system for the weather. Everybody could trade rain credits for drought credits. I can see dollar signs flying.
 
Brilliant! Cap and trade already has such political correctness about it that it should be an easy sell. We'll be rich.
