Thanksgiving was wonderful, family over and plenty of groceries for everyone. Yesterday was the anniversary of my birth but Susie had to work and informed me that besides tickets to The Lion King performance I would get my "special present" when she got home.
Our daughter brought the grand kids over late in the afternoon for some cow time and hot chocolate...well she made lunch as she usually does; I enjoy the attention and besides she always cleans the kitchen and does the dishes. Wonderfull lunch, large turkey sandwitch and a glass of milk really filled me up. After lunch we sat and watched some football and then it hit...
Triptophan...now at my age when a nooner is a bowl of soup and a nap it didn't take long to put my lights out. Woke up still in the recliner covered with a blanket and wondering if I had missed my special present...afraid to ask but have been looking all over the place today. If the tire guys don't show tomorrow with new tires for the tractor then I guess I'll have to wait until next year. Having a birthday so close to the holidays isn't all that great. Dave Mc

I understand exactly where you're coming from Dave, except my anniversary of birth coincides all to close to Christmas!

my birthday was Saturday and was not different than any other day. We were duck hunting and didn't see anything, got sicker than a dog that night and am still sick... this puking crap is the only birthday present I even got...

Did you have any left over turkey sandwiches that you ate while out hunting.

A state health inspector told me once that the Fri. Sat. and Sun. after Thanksgiving day are notorious for food poisoning; mainly fom turkey sandwiches that the hunters eat while hunting.

The youngest daughter's birthday is New Years Eve. When she was little she complained that we never had a sleep over birthday party with her friends on her birthday. I kept telling her to wait until she turned 21 and there would always be a party on her birthday.

msscamp... I'm in your corner. It always bugged me when the family would have a special party for every other birthday in the family. One year, a thursday evening, the folks tried to have a birthday party for me and in walks my aunt with a gift and says, "Now when the family gets together sunday for christmas there won't be a gift from me to you because I am giving it to you tonight." Go figure.

Course my mother and a cousin of hers were in the hospital at the same time and the cousins daughter was born on Christmas day. I once asked her what took her so long. She told me that if she'd have showed up three days earlier she'd have embarrassed me. She's probably right.

My oldest daughter was born on Halloween... she was her Mama's birthday gift. My middle one was her papaw's birthday present born 2 days before his b-day.

Oh well, gettin' long winded again. Time to hit the mill.

Having a birthday on Christmas would be either really bad or really good, I'm not sure which. :???: Dave, you're daughter and I share a birthday! :)

Well...the o'l Oliver still needs new shoes. The tire guys from the Co-Op didn't show today. I 'm not sure about asking Susie about my special present, maybe I'll hint around and see if she takes the hint...
