I do not where Overalls every day and have to dress up sometimes. I have been needing a new sports coat for a while now because I don't always want to wear a suit. I have a casual event to attend tomorrow night and a funeral to go to Thursday. Next month I have a corp meeting so it was time to buy a new sports coat. I go to jos.a bank (see their commercials all the time) I look around and was starting to wonder how many calves I was going to have to sell to get a new coat. The cheapest tag was 600 bucks. Finally the salesman asked if he could help me. I politely told him if these prices are correct I was in the wrong store and would head over to the goodwill because apparently I'm in poverty and didn't know it if people really pay this much for a coat. He then asked what I was looking for and my size. We determined what I was needing and showed me 6 coats that were in that size. 6 out of what looked like 2000 in this store. One that was in the color I actually wanted. Price tag said 595.00. I handed it back to him and said no thank you. he said let me check the price. he rang it up and said this ones on sale for 160.00. I said OK whats wrong with it. He said nothing that they run different specials every day for instance yesterday this same coat was 595.00 and today its 435.00 off. I was dumbfounded that people actually pay that kinda of money for a clothes.

That is a heck of a markup if they can drop the price $435.! And you know that they are still making something off of it at $160. Might have been made in Taiwan for $20.

Nope MEXICO. That's almost made in the USA aint it

Part of why I left the banking profession was the expense of the clothes. Then when you left work, you were over dressed for litterally everything you wanted to go do.

Clothes in general are expensive.. M5 I wear overalls like you and generally damage a pair atleast once a month to non wearable condition and I have to buy more they generally run 45-75 bucks

Well I don't have to have mine made by omar the tent maker so my overalls (liberty) are 35 bucks or so

My cowboy cut Wranglers are still around $20.00 a pair and look nice when paired with a sport coat for those "special" occasions!! :D

Late 70's the city I worked for had several sewing rooms. One of them had an alarm set off early one morning and after we cleared the building I saw several tag stations. There were racks of the same blouses at stations and each had individual tags from Neiman Marcus, J C Penny and other department stores. Just goes to show there can be a huge markup on garments.

The banks commercials they are showing here are buy 1 get 2 free on their suits. That right there tells me there markup is rediculous

Goodwill is actually a great idea also Burlington Coat factory. I have two Camel hair sports coats that i bought at goodwill 20 years ago for $10 ea. They were 300dollar coats at the time

I Had already looked at all of the thrift stores. I have found deals there before and buy a lot of my work shirts there. We have a Burlington coat place here but its in the mall and I dislike the mall almost as much as Wal-Mart.

I just paid $40 for 6 pairs of decent work socks.

Sally anne, Value village, etc are my usual haunts when I go into the city.. I found a heated seat cover with massagers for $3.. couldn't go wrong there.. Also found about 20 ft of 1/4" high pressure hose for $2.. figured that can come in handy around the farm

That sir is the uniform of the day for me...weddings, funerals, church or anything else.

I see those Jos Banks commericals and always wondered which "special" would apply once I walked in the door because they have a different one ever day it seems......the buy one get 4 free or buy one and get six shirts....50% off an already 50% off suit....no way i could leave there without thinking I'd been screwed royally.

I am cheap go to the outlet mall jeans $10 then get T-shirts for $5 bucks only thing I pay up for is socks. I like the Craftsman socks at Sears I don't remember how much they are but they are pricy or at least to me they are.
