I sent two cows off to the sale today. Both were getting chronic foot problems. One just kept growing and wouldn't stop. She weighed 1,810 lbs. I like 1,200 to 1,400 cows and can tolerate a bit more but not that big. She always raised a good calf in the upper 6 to 7 weight range but as a % of her weight she wasn't performing. Thankfully I never kept any heifers out of either one. They brought .70 lb kill price. Hay burners for sure.

Yep. She wasn't fat either...just huge. Not sure what was in the wood pile on her. None of her full siblings broke 1,300 lbs.

Probably spend that money drilling in some fescue this fall.
