Cubes make a cow eat more???

Feeding high-protein supplements stimulates rumen bacteria, which enhancesdigestion of forages and increasing consumption.

:???: :???:

I thought they were just used to tame wild Florida cows

Inopheres... such as rumensin and bovatech are antibiotics but never enter the system only the gut. These on the cow and feedlot increases FCR and for the calf they are growth promoting increasing ADG. You can buy these in cubes or sometimes they're called mixing minerals which you are suppose to mix w your mineral supplement but if you don't it won't hurt you animals and you can feed it free choice.

We've used cubes to stretch hay on bad years, the cows ate noticeably less hay than the cows that received a liquid protein supplement. Those cows went thru hay like wildfire.

Not sure what the ingredients were, but the ones we've used were 20% protein.

That liquid feed was probably 32% protein too...ALL from NPN. Will make them eat the bark off a tree.

It was 32% or better, I'm thinking more. It was funny to watch them go from the tank, to the old crappy hay I had, then to the water. And repeat.
